While a phone cannot overcharge, the battery can still get "weaker" if you do charge it at a 100%. Why? Because the phone will be in a loop of accepting charge and denying charge. This loop will lower the maximum amount of time your phone can stay alive for. This is why it is recommended that you only charge your phone up to 80% and start charging it when it hits 20%.
